Wallet scanning, Bitcoin and six EVM chains
Checked against app build 2026-08-26-01-41 on 2026-08-26.
How do I import an on-chain wallet?
Paste the address into Wallets and the app reads its public history for you, Bitcoin plus six EVM chains, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Gnosis, Optimism and Polygon.
No file export, no connection, no key. If some of your history lives on-chain rather than in an exchange, this is the way in.
What gets sent when I scan an address?
The address you typed, and nothing else in your workspace.
The app fetches the address’s transactions from public block explorers, the same pages anyone can open in a browser, mempool.space for Bitcoin and the Etherscan family for the EVM chains. This is one of the three optional network features stated plainly in the privacy model. What travels is already public information on a public ledger.
What comes back from a scan?
Incoming and outgoing movements with dates and amounts, ready for the same preview and reconciliation as any file import.
Transfers between your own addresses link up once both sides are in the workspace, which is exactly why it is worth adding all your addresses, not just the busy one, and why per-wallet balancing catches gaps when one is missing.
What can scanning not tell me?
A public ledger shows movements, not meanings.
The scan cannot tell a purchase from a gift or an income payment from a loan repayment, so anything ambiguous queues in Reconcile for your judgment. It also cannot see your exchange balances, exchanges are off-chain, which is what file imports and exchange sync are for. Very deep histories read in more than one pass and the app says so rather than truncating without saying so, see error messages.
